Omar Shemy joined Ojdrovic Engineering in 2023, bringing a wealth of knowledge acquired through a distinguished academic journey and professional experience. Omar has shown a thorough understanding of building structures through his work designing structural elements and connections on two 4-storey concrete structures, a storage structural steel facility and various deluxe houses.
Mr. Shemy joined D.L. Turner Consultants Inc. in 2021. Since joining Turner, Mr. Shemy has been dedicated to honing his skills in structural analysis and design. Mr. Shemy has been actively conducting site visits during construction, where he inspects structural elements and writes reports to verify compliance with structural drawings. Additionally, he is responsible for preparing feasibility reports for structural interventions and producing reports on building envelope conditions and facade assessments.

TLA Architects – 2500 Henri Bourassa – 4-storey reinforced concrete residential (apartment) building with 1 basement, Montreal, 2022-2023. This structure consists of 4 storeys, a green roof and a penthouse. Columns are continuous up to the roof of the fourth story, which is a green roof. The columns of the penthouse are supported on 18 transfer beams that transfer the loads to the green roof columns. Mr. Shemy was responsible for the analysis and design of all reinforced concrete footings, foundation walls, flat plates, columns, and transfer beams.
Architem – Dym Residence – 2-storey deluxe house with a basement, Saint-Agathe-Des-Monts, 2021-2023. The structure consists of conventional ground and 2nd floor wood joists and steel framing, wood roof trusses and reinforced concrete foundation wall. The intricate architecture required 3-20 ft moment frames over windows to gain an un obstructed view of the scenery in front of the house. Mr. Shemy was responsible for the analysis and design of all the structural wood framing and wood shear walls, structural steel moment frames.
Architem – Aucoin – 2-storey deluxe house with a basement, Knowlton, 2021-2023. The structure consists of conventional ground and 2nd floor wood joists and steel framing, wood roof trusses and reinforced concrete foundation wall. The Architectural layout required that one side of the house be free of any wood walls or steel bracings. Mr. Shemy was responsible for the analysis and design of all the structural wood framing and wood shear walls, structural steel moment frames to resist the torsional load resulting from the side of the house that doesn’t have lateral bracing.
Caouette Architecte - 651 Notre-Dame West – 6-storey masonry (brick and stone) building, Montreal. Detailed RBQ inspection of the front and rear facades. Rehabilitation of the (South) front, (West) stone facades and (North) rear brick façade. Mr. Shemy reported recommendations regarding: The stabilization, repairs and repointing of North facade cracked and damaged brick and stone pieces. Repair of damaged cut stone columns, replacement of damaged stone and brick on the West and South façades. Replacement of copper cornices and roof flashing on all facades.
Pitsas Architectes – Triassi Residence – Basement renovation, Montreal, 2022. 2-storey house supported on perimeter foundation walls and 3 load bearing CMU walls in between. At the client's request to convert the space into a six-car garage, Mr. Shemy undertook the responsibility of designing steel structure, comprising beams and columns to replace the loadbearing block walls, ensuring the transfer of loads while achieving the required open space.
Agence Imagine Inc. – Appin Residence - Montreal, 2022. In a renovation project involving an existing 2-storey house with a basement, Mr. Shemy was tasked with accommodating a client's request for a 22-foot window overlooking the sunroom while retaining the existing sunroom structure. It was required to transfer the edge roof load of the sunroom in an eccentric manner to a new structural steel beam positioned directly over the window, which also needed to support the wood framing from the floor above. Mr. Shemy undertook the design of a special steel beam capable of resisting torsion resulting from eccentric loads.
Cormier Lefebvre Architectes – Nouveau Triplex - 3-story wood residential (apartment) building, Laval, 2022. The structure consists of load bearing wood shear walls on the perimeter, wood joists and structural steel framing, wood roof trusses and reinforced concrete spread footings. Mr. Shemy analysed and designed all the shear walls, wood joists and structural steel gravity members.
Zinno Zappitelli Architects – Public Storage – 2-storey structural steel storage facility – 22,000 sq. ft., Laval, 2021-2022. This Public Storage consists of two storeys in structural steel, a cantilever (Gerber) roof and concentrically braced frames. Mr. Shemy handled analysis and design of all reinforced concrete footings, pilasters, foundation walls and structural steel columns, beams, and bracings.
